Special Hunts

Please note you must have the required hunting license and appropriate hunting permits to participate in these hunts. Park permits may also be required.

Persons awarded a hunt will receive further information from area managers or private lands coordinator in the near future. If you are unable to make your hunt date, please notify the location area manager. To decline a private land hunt, please notify the private lands coordinator at 620-672-5911.

The following Special Hunts were not filled during the second draw. These hunts will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Please call 620-672-0791 if you are interested in any of these hunts.

Kepley Wildlife Area

Youth/Mentor Upland Bird Hunt

Located 5 miles west and 6 miles south of Ulysses-160 acres. Six mentor-youth hunt

permits will be issued for six Saturday morning hunts (legal shooting time until noon).

A youth is any hunter 18 years of age or younger. Each youth must be accompanied by

an adult 21 or older. Hunt party cannot exceed 4 hunters.

Six (6) permits will be issued for a youth 16 and younger and their accompanying mentor to harvest one whitetail anterless deer during their assigned access period. All appropriate licenses and tags are required and participating youth who are 16 must also possess a hunting license.
