The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) is not accepting applications for Federal grants from the Land and Water Conservation Fund. Federal funding has been extremely limited this year, and no local side funding is available.
We are taking applications for the Trails Grant until August 1, 2009. However, potential sponsors should be aware that the current trails program is scheduled to end September 30, 2009, unless Congress reauthorizes the program and appropriates funding. We believe the program will be re-authorized with a funding level similar to these last five years, but we cannot be certain until Congress takes action. Due to scheduling problems, the public participation application review meeting will not be scheduled until late October, and funding announcements will not occur until mid-January 2010.
